History

The Morris Minor Car Club of Qld had its humble beginning back in 1981 when Greg and Rose Callaghan and a few others, all of which were interested in Morris Minors came together to form a club. They first met at Greg's home and later held their meetings at the Shafston Hotel. Membership in the first year was 19 single members and 17 family members.

The events for the first year included attendance at the Sugar Festival, Nambour, a navigation run and a car show at Indooroopilly Shopping Town for the Blind. In October 1982 the highlight was the first Gold Coast run and as a result of that event the Gold Coast Club was formed. During 1983 members travelled to Bundoon, N.S.W. for the first Morris Minor Car Clubs of Australia National Rally.

The club continued to prosper with membership increasing, various changes in meeting rooms, and in 1989 the combined Morris Minor Car Clubs of Queensland hosted the 4th National Rally in Toowoomba. Onward, numerous Runs to various parts of South East Queensland, Motor Shows, Heritage Days, 10th and 15th Club Birthday Celebrations, National Rallies, Touring with the Morris Minor Touring Club, hosting the 50th Anniversary of the Morris Minor Day, Members giving hands on demonstrations on various parts of the Morris Minor mainly after meetings, to present day.
